Everything You Need To Know About Persian Cats (And More)

Keeping Your Bengal Cat Entertained

Bengal cats are highly intelligent and extremely active. They crave lots of attention from their human owner and constantly want to explore and play. If you don't provide them with enough stimulation, then they will find other ways to entertain themselves. This may mean destroying some of the objects in your home. However, there are some things you can do to help keep your Bengal cat entertained.

Spend Time with Formal Training

Bengal cats love any type of attention you give them and most will happily watch anything you do. You can use this to your advantage to formally train them. Most Bengals can be trained to do anything that a dog can be trained to do. This breed is known to be very responsive to clicker training. Try to make training time like a game.

Provide Plenty of Toys

Be sure to provide plenty of cat-stimulating toys and have them available at all times. Make sure to provide toys that challenge their natural abilities. Because of their high intelligence, you may need to switch out or buy new toys from time to time to keep them from getting bored. Bengal cats especially like toys that they can hide in or that have moving parts.

Set Up a Kiddie Pool

Bengal cats are known for their love of water and don't hesitate to play with water fixtures or in tubs or buckets of water. They will greatly appreciate their own private kiddie pool, especially if you provide them with a variety of floating toys. Make sure your tub is made of solid material (not an inflatable, for example) or their claws and teeth will cause damage.

Build a (Very) Tall Cat Tree

Bengal cats love to climb and they will find the highest place in your home to lounge on. You can direct this love of climbing to a more practical location by providing a tall cat tree. Make sure you have several platform levels available. If you can rearrange the platforms and change the configuration of the tree from time to time, that's even better and more likely to keep them stimulated in the long-term.

Because of their extreme need for stimulation, you should take great care as to what you leave out for your Bengal cat to access. When out of your sight, he or she will likely find whatever object they can take apart for their own entertainment. If you provide plenty of better alternatives for them to play with, they are an extremely fun breed to have.
