Want A Cat For Your Family? Why A White Toyger Cat Is A Good Choice

If you would like to get a cat for your family, you have many breeds to choose from. One breed is known as the Toyger cat, which would be a good choice for you. Keep reading to learn information about this cat to help you decide.

Their Appearance

When you look at a Toyger, you automatically think tiger because they look like miniature tigers. They are medium-sized and have a long, striped body. Their legs are shorter when compared to other cat breeds, which is often common with tigers. Their paws are large, and they have long nails.

Their fur is short and can be orange, reddish brown, white, or brown. Their head has circular markings making them look distinct. Their eyes are large and round and can be a very dark brown to a lighter hazel.

Their Personality

Toyger cats are much more than beautiful cats. They also are friendly and outgoing. They get along well with other animals, such as other cats you may have and even a dog if they are introduced properly. These cats are very intelligent and can be trained. It is not uncommon to train these cats to be in agility competitions, play fetch, and much more.

Because they are intelligent cats, you need to make sure they stay stimulated. You can do this by making sure you play with your cat each day. If you work full-time, this cat will not enjoy spending hours alone each day. They crave attention and can easily become bored. Purchase toys for your cat to play with to keep them busy.

Grooming Needs

The Toyger cat is considered low maintenance, but you do need to brush them a couple of times a week. You may find your cat will even enjoy this time with you. The Toyger has long nails so either trim them yourself or take them to a groomer when you notice they become too long. Purchase your cat a scratching post to help keep their claws in good shape.

Clean their ears regularly or whenever you notice they become dirty. Use a damp cloth or cotton ball to gently wipe the outer ear. Your veterinarian can show you how to do this. There are ear cleansers specially made for cats. While you are grooming your cat, this is a good time to inspect its body for problems, such as sores on their skin or dry skin.
